Working at People's Place shelter for battered women

                LCD Class Project

Remodeled the kitchen and dining room area at People's Place which is a domestic violence shelter that serves Hispanic survivors and their children.

"The objective of our project as the LCD 2015 class was to make a difference in the lives of women and children who are victims of domestic violence. We have made the living conditions better for these women who are living at the shelter and improved their quality of life," said Ron Barisano, class member.

Some of the work included painting the walls, installing new cabinets, a countertop, a new stove microwave, lighting and a new floor.

Kim Rigby, Communication and Donor Relations Manager for People's Place said they were happy the organization chose them. Our kitchen was in very bad shape. Everyone here loves it, as we wouldn't have been able to afford all the work that was done."

"What a phenomenal group of individuals! We are so grateful for all their hard work and the difference they've made to domestic violence survivors that now love to cook in their new kitchen." People's Place

After  gradutation the class continues to meet the first Thursday of every month for happy hour.  In Dec., 2015 the class met at DelTech for a family holiday party with everyone bringing food.
